A collaboration between Gustav Lejelind and Mathilda Frykberg. Svälten & törsten is a guided dinner-essay in which guests are invited to the table and, through food and sound, are taken on a journey from the potato riots in Stockholm in 1917 and bubbling water springs in Georgia to Saint Birgitta’s father’s funeral and the magical properties of wild garlic. As a guest, you are invited to taste and reconsider some of our most common ingredients — butter, sugar, potatoes, onions, water — partly through stories of hunger and thirst. The performance was presented in 2023 at Göteborgs konsthall and Verkstad konsthall in Norrköping in a series of sittings with multiple guests.
Sound production: Gustav Lejelind
Concept, staging, and food: Mathilda Frykberg
