My boyfriend’s bedroom/kitchen in Sumy, Ukraine

2023

Dry pastel drawings 50 x 70 cm
Presented at Valsta konst, Sigtuna 2023.

In this diptych the focus is directed towards the home and everyday life in the midst of war, in an attempt to confront the viewer with their own sense of recognition and empathy. At first glance, the two colourful dry pastel drawings might resemble any cosy domestic interior, but they are weighed down by a darkness that contrasts with the vivid colours of the scenes. A window sealed with tape to prevent glass shards from scattering in the event of a possible bombing stands out, hinting at the constant presence of an external threat. The work reminds us that, alongside the bloody front lines, war unfolds just as much in all the homes where life goes on, adapted to new and altered circumstances.

War diary

2023

Digital print
Presented at Valsta konst, Sigtuna 2023.

The work War Diary consists of a collection of diary entries from the first year of the fullscale invasion in Ukraine, forming a painful testimony by a family member who, at a distance, is forced to experience the trauma of war while everyday life continues as usual in Sweden. Through brief entries, the contrast between the mundane and the brutality of war is brought into focus — a kind of divided and, at times, absurd reality that many people live with on a daily basis.

Kiss FM Ukraine

2023

Radio installation
Presented at Valsta konst, Sigtuna 2023, Köttinspektionen, Uppsala 2024 and Havremaagasinet, Boden 2025.

In the work Kiss FM Ukraine, live radio broadcasts from Ukraine are played. Radio Kiss — The Best Dance Radio broadcasts around the clock, playing energetic electronic dance music. The station’s playlist has been affected by the war, and newly produced remixes carrying uplifting, patriotic anti-war messages have been added. Visitors are invited to share, in real time, the same soundscape as many of the Ukrainians living in the country. Listening to Radio Kiss can be seen as an act of solidarity, a kind of inverted minute of silence, and serves as a reminder of music’s liberating and empowering force.
